We gather under the banner of our party as a political, civic and social group  to work for the good of our borough, our county, our state and our nation.

A New Organization You Need to Know About...

The DLOC

Drinking Liberally Ocean County

Share your politics while you share a pitcher at Ocean County's progressive drinking club. An informal gathering of like-minded, left-leaners who may want to trade ideas, get more involved, or just enjoy each other’s company.

Drinking Liberally Ocean County meets the third Tuesday of the month at 8:00 pm at the Atrium Lounge in the Quality Inn on Rt. 37 in Toms River.

" We may not change the world, but for at least one evening a month, it will be a little easier to take."   --anonymous DLOC founder

Campaign 2010

Republicans are gearing up for a November  showdown with Democratic Rep. John Adler. Their candidate will likely be retired footballer and right-winger Jon Runyan, who can be found on Fox TV, but apparently not in our 3rd Congressional District. Check out this grass-roots video from the Adler campaign:

Where are you Jon Runyan?

Move Your Money

The American public has been ripped off by big banks. Big banks have pillaged the middle class with fees and penalties, setting particularly inhumane traps for credit card users. They were enthusiastic participants in the real estate feeding frenzy and through outrageous bonuses and salaries, enriched themselves at our expense. Then, when the bubble burst and our economy hung in the balance, they convinced Washington that they were too big to fail and we taxpayers threw them billion-dollar lifelines. Now they're reluctant to loan those dollars to entrepreneurs or householders -- the only people who can lead us out of the Great Recession. Meanwhile, they continue to gouge customers to the extent that the law will allow.

Yet many of us still do business with big banks because, well, who else is there?

Turns out there are very real alternatives: local banks and credit unions. These institutions offer the same services and the same FDIC coverage, but they do business in local communities. Often, their services are better and less costly. They were not part of the problem, but they could be part of the cure. Whether they will be or not is entirely up to us as individuals.
